Mr. Mir Rezaul Alam, BPM (Bar), Additional Inspector General of Police is the Principal of Bangladesh Police Academy. He joined as Principal on 06 March 2023. As a highly accomplished person with an illustrious career in the civil service, Mr. Rezaul has long been serving in various units of Bangladesh Police with immense experience in the field of Administration, Crime & Operations.

Prior to his appointment as the Principal, he had been Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) at Dhaka Metropolitan Police since 2019. Before that he served as Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) at Dhaka Metropolitan Police from 2017 to 2019. He also served as Joint Police Commissioner (Operations), Joint Police Commissioner (Crime & Ops) and Joint Police Commissioner (Traffic) at Dhaka Metropolitan Police from 2013 to 2017.

From 2005 to 2013, he was the Commandant of Range Reserve Force-Barishal, Superintendent of Police-Narsingdi, Kishoreganj, Narayanganj and Deputy Police Commissioner (Gulshan) at DMP.

He worked as an Additional SP at Sherpur & Sylhet district Police from 2002 to 2005. He also served as an Assistant Police Commissioner at Dhaka Metropolitan Police from 1996 to 2000. Out of his 28 years of service, he performed about 17 years in Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

He has an exemplary career where he has awarded IGP badge thrice and BPM (Bangladesh Police Medal-highest award in police) twice.

During his distinguished career he has attended many training, seminar and symposium both at home & abroad. He is a widely travelled person and visited countries like USA, Qatar, China, Italy, South Korea, Mexico, Vietnam, Australia, Liberia, Morocco, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, UAE, France, Greece, Saudi Arabia, India, Thailand, Singapore, Belgium, UK, Germany and the Netherlands.

As a peace keeper Mr. Rezaul has served UN Peace Keeping Mission in Kosovo and Liberia. In Liberia, he was the chief of training wing and visited different countries like Turkey, Zimbabwe & Zambia to take the mission competence test for the police officers.

Mir Rezaul joined at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bangladesh as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1995. He belongs to the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) 15^th Batch. 

Mr. Rezaul holds Bachelor’s & Master’s degree in Public Administration from University of Dhaka.  Besides, he completed certificate course on Public Policy from Duke University, USA. He went to Dhaka College for his Higher Secondary Certificate and to Khilgaon Govt. High School for his Secondary School Certificate.

Mr. Mir Rezaul Alam was born in a respected noble Muslim family in Magura on 30 December 1969. In his personal life, he is married. His wife Mrs. Nafis Siddiquie is a Computer Engineer by profession. They are blessed with two sons.
